Special consideration will be given to animals that are licensed prior to transport to the shelter.All animals released to their owners must be currently vaccinated prior to release.Shelter employees are not permitted to discuss untagged pets over the telephone because without proper identification, we cannot positively identify your pet. Owners of lost animals must visit the shelter for positive identification.Sometimes offering a reward is helpful, but it is wise not to specify an amount. Ask your neighbors if they have seen your pet. People often have different descriptions of the same animal. Place a lost ad in the newspaper, post on your neighborhood page on put posters up around your neighborhood call any found ad that even remotely describes your pet. The smaller centres in particular do not have fundraising systems and spend most of their time and resources looking after animals. They are completely dependent on donations and the public support. Rehabilitation and wildlife rescue centre’s are not government funded in Ontario. The second goal of Ontario Wildlife Rescue is to help raise money for wildlife rescue centres across Ontario. If you take a wild animal to them they may put it down. Caution: Humane Societies and Animal Control are not licensed to look after wildlife. Use this site to locate a wildlife rescue centre in your area or a centre that specializes in a particular species. Connecting with a wildlife professional quickly can save their life. They usually have been without food or water for a while and are confused and afraid. The first 24 to 48 hours after a wild animal is found is the most critical. ![]()
